Teen Therapy

Supporting Teens Through Life's Challenges

The teenage years can be both exciting and overwhelming. Between school pressures, friendships, family relationships, social media, identity development, and future planning, many teens find themselves struggling to manage stress and emotions.

Therapy provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space where teens can talk openly, explore challenges, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills. My goal is to help teens feel understood while learning practical tools they can use in everyday life.

Common Reasons Teens Come to Therapy

  • Anxiety, excessive worry, and stress

  • Depression, low mood, and emotional overwhelm

  • ADHD, executive functioning, and organization challenges

  • Self-esteem, confidence, and identity concerns

  • Social difficulties, friendships, and peer relationships

  • School-related stress, academic pressure, and burnout

  • Family conflict and relationship challenges

  • Emotional regulation difficulties, life transitions, grief, trauma, and other difficult life experiences

My Approach

I strive to create a genuine connection with teens by providing a safe space where they can be themselves without fear of judgment. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to each teen's unique needs, personality, and goals.

Depending on the teen and their concerns, I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based approaches, EMDR, sand tray therapy, and other evidence-based interventions to help them better understand themselves and navigate challenges.

Parent Involvement

Parents are an important part of the therapy process. While teens need privacy to build trust and speak openly, I also work collaboratively with parents to provide support, education, and guidance when appropriate. My goal is to help strengthen communication and relationships while supporting the teen's growth and independence.

What to Expect

The first few sessions focus on building rapport, understanding concerns, and identifying goals for therapy. Over time, teens often develop greater self-awareness, healthier coping strategies, stronger communication skills, increased confidence, and improved emotional well-being.
